Names of Saints – Iconclass Reference
A searchable HTML listing of saint names and their Iconclass codes
A single self-contained HTML file listing 4,617 saint names drawn from the Iconclass classification system and related hagiographic reference works. Each entry links directly to its Iconclass record.
Sources
The names are based on three principal reference works:
- Iconclass (iconclass.org)
- Lexikon der christlichen Ikonographie (LCI)
- Princeton Index of Medieval Art
Names appear in multiple languages and spelling variants (Latin, Italian, German, English, Dutch and others), reflecting the multilingual nature of the source material.
Contents of the HTML file
Each entry consists of:
- The saint's name as it appears in the source (left column)
- The corresponding Iconclass code as a clickable link to iconclass.org (right column)
Entries are grouped alphabetically by first letter, with a sticky letter navigation bar for quick access.
Features
- Live search — filters all 4,617 entries instantly as you type, matching against both the saint's name and the Iconclass code
- Search highlighting — matched text is highlighted in yellow in both columns
- Alphabetical navigation — a sticky bar of letter links; letters with no results are dimmed automatically during a search
- Two-column grid layout — entries are displayed side by side for efficient scanning
- Direct links — each Iconclass code links to its full record at iconclass.org
- Self-contained — no external stylesheets, scripts, or fonts; one file, works offline
